We are each others harvest;
We are each other’s business:
We are each others magnitude and bond.

- Gwendolyn Brooks

About

Magnitude & Bond is the manifestation of a question I have been thinking deeply about for many years. What does home mean for Black folks? My inspiration for this space has always been grounded in intimacy and care particularly for documenting, representing, and describing configurations of Black life. The way in which Black women, femmes, non-binary, trans and queer folks live, persist, and thrive in spite of overwhelming structures of violence and erasure is remarkable yet practiced so simply in everyday acts of living.

I hope that Magnitude & Bond offers you the space to create community imagined through a fundamental valuing of Black home life. I hope that we can provide the conditions under which Black home life can thrive. This is a place to make home for ourselves and each other. Our homes are sites of livingness, and that is worth celebrating!
